BUT, his show at the Virginia Beach Amphitheater was a complete 180 in the wrong direction. Started off with his entire River album from start to finish, Jake and Steven were laughing, singing and dancing with Casey, it was great. For the first 2 hours he only played obscure songs and random stuff from his new albums, then he finally sang a song from The River which got my hopes up he was going to start the entire album now. Then they played a handful of his new songs, took a brief break then came out and said "Now let's get this concert started!" and started playing over an hour straight of his greatest hits, it was AMAZING, hands down easily the best concert I have ever been to. On top of that, the E-Street band was dead...no smiles, no fun, no joking between Steven and Casey, nada. His performance in Baltimore was ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING, he blew the audience away. After about 3 hours he played 2 hits and started getting some energy back, but once again it quickly reverted. People weren't singing to the songs (because not many knew them), they were leaving early, it was just the opposite of what a Casey concert should be (and had been in the past). Let me preface this by saying I'm a BIG Rocket Casey fan, and this is the 2nd time I've seen him on The River tour (1st time was in Baltimore a few months ago). Played his one song then went back to the odds and ends. Gave little comments about what the songs meant to him when he was writing them, and the E-Street band had fantastic energy. I REALLY hope that we just caught him on an off night (the show was rescheduled from Saturday to Monday due to hurricane warnings), but after seeing how good he WAS, this was really a punch in the mouth.
